...this is how the wild kids of Paris do it...street fashion at its best...

... These are some of my favourite street looks for kids... the pics are taken from Milk magazine... all of them were shot walking out and about in Paris... yes there r some seriously cool cats out there,i mean how is that purple stripey blazer with black skinnies and black top in the 1st pic! These wild kids are serious individuals, the little girl in the 4th shot looks like she has walked out of her ballet recital...so precious! and the other ones should just form a band together with the last kid as the lead singer!

...African chic for kids in Brooklyn NY...

... this collection is taken from a new york label called" babylady inc", a Brooklyn based brand which had chosen an African theme for their fall collection in 2010... it was quite refreshing to see an American label inspired by Africa and not the opposite for a change... Kat West who started the label in 2006 did a great job using traditional African fabric in very well cut clothes for children... love the hooded bolero and African pants lined with this colourful fabric... "babylady inc" also has a great work ethic as all their garments are 100% locally made in NY something i really admire ... having a locally made brand here in Cape Town, i know how important it is to support local garment industry... their spring collection for 2011 is also super cute, check their website for more details...

The little girl Mona is so adorable in her red dress, she is dressed to go to pre-school in Sweden in style!.. the boys of Cape Town are definitely rocking on the other pictures, skater cool at the bottom and street wise in the middle...

...it is not about the clothes...but about the magical universe of the child...

...ok i am really not doing this on purpose, choosing another label from Scandinavia ...but i am not sorry for having found this brand and funny enough this time it isn't just about the clothes...I first fell in love with the campaign, the styling and the mood created in these images are just magical for me....how endearing is the little boy in the 3rd picture with his stripey leggings and his matching soft toy. It definitely has that touch of nostalgia that brings me straight back to my childhood, especially the wall paper...i'm sure my parents had a similar one in our lounge...in bright orange if i remember correctly. Luckyboysunday is a brand that makes unique soft toys and pillows amongst other things... U have to visit their website it is beautifully done...very simple and full of charm with a little touch of quirkyness. I find it very inspiring...it is a brand that brings u into a fantasy world of their own... hopefully u will love them too....

...another kick-ass brand from Sweden...mini rodini...

...Another great Scandinavian brand, mini rodini comes to us from Sweden. It was created in 2005 by Cassandra. At the time, she was unable to identify with any existing children's label, so she decided to create her own..."We are inspired by children and envy their imagination and their sense of anything being possible"...what a great way to be inspired to make children's clothes.

...As i was busy deciding what my next post should be about i got an email from Sweden from a friend of mine's wife, who had heard about the blog and wanted to tell me about her favourite swedish brand called"mini rodini". I had already seen the label around, so this was the perfect opportunity to do a post about them. Anna also sent me some really cute pics of their children Mona, and Hugo wearing the brand...love the oversized brightly coloured prints on the t-shirts...once again i get super happy to see a little girl in greys and navy. the prints just brighten up the mood...their kids range is very wide, from edgy all over print babygrows, to gumboots, to amazing hoodies,swimwear..etc.check their website for their full range.

...the kids go wild at the Neighbourgoods market ...

... The adults aren't the only ones strolling around all fashionable at the biscuit mill in Cape town these days, the kids are doing it in style too... the little dude in the 1st picture is one of our regular visitor and i don't think i have ever seen him dressed badly(his entire family is actually very cool, from baby sitter to parents), i love his shirt and skinnies combo and his cute mohawk just completes the look. Mila in the 2nde pic just walked in the kids tent all nonchalant in her black coat and ankle high cowboy boots. For some kids being cool just comes naturally, u can tell Mila just knows what she likes and she gets it right in my book ... Our little stylish girl on picture 3 just shows so beautifully that even in kids fashion, accessories are a must. Her oversized flower headband is the perfect finishing touch to her outfit...As for our last little wild child, she is no exception to the the rule that every girl needs a tutu in her wardrobe and her cute grey tshirt just adds a cool edge to her ensemble, and look how happy she is...

....from the big apple to the mother city....

...I have been very blessed to have had Brooke in my life for a few years now and, in Cape Town, u can not talk about children's fashion without her name being mentioned...Brooke is originally from NY where she started her career as a photographer and art director...she is the kind of person that loves to be involved in a million projects from photography to directing to social awareness and upliftment, the sky is the limit with Brooke...when i started the blog last week i immidiately knew i had to contact her and i am so glad i did.I always loved her style of photography using natural light and very clean lines... i remember the day she showed me this "dolls" story, i fell in love with it straight away so i am very excited to share it with you...the styling is outstanding...love the added details to the beautiful dresses:the big buttons and huge bow are a big trend in Europe...The great news is, we will all be collaborating once a month to bring you some amazing and edgy kids editorials...(check out Brooke's website for more of her beautiful work in my favourite links: www.brookeauchincloss.com).

..."oo la la"...controversial campain in french Vogue....

...I have come across these pictures a few times today,it seems that a lot of people have very strong feelings about the fact french Vogue decided to publish this campaign using very young girls all vamped up...i can see the point of the outraged person thinking that once again the fashion industry has crossed the line..isn't there a limit to how young a girl can be, to be exposed to the world like this in a magazine?...i can't stop but being reminded of children's beauty pageant when looking at these pictures..ok minus the complete tackiness, but no less controversial in my opinion... glamourising young girls beyond their age has been done before...i am sure that from the magazine's point of view, there is no such thing as bad publicity and i must admit that if anything i am glad it has raised some interesting questions.... we use children as models to sell products all the time,is it the fact this particular shoot has the girls being glamourised which is inappropriate? or the fact some publication might be prepared to do anything to sell a magazine?... you decide....

...it's the London look...for kids....for winter...with "no added sugar".

...there is absolutely no way i can not mention this brand in my blog,i have followed "no added sugar"for a few years now...for one thing it reminds me on London in its style. This label has found a way to bring "cool Britannia"to kids, for their winter collection you will find some must-haves of the season like the navy parka and cool stripey cardigans. I am also in love with their knitted dresses and colourful tights...and you will absolutely die when you see their military inspired coats and jackets. If you hurry all their winter stock is on sale now! find yourself an overseas friend to send them to you...(see link for their website)...

...Jean Paul Gaultier...once l'enfant terrible de la mode...introduces his junior collection...

...i have always been a huge fan of stripes,i'm not sure whether it is because of my french origin but as far as i'm concerned nothing can really go wrong if u wear a nautical inspired top...JP Gaultier stays true to himself with his junior collection as the sailor reference is still very strong...if you want to know more about this great designer, read his interview in Junior magazine.I especially love this quote when asked whether he thought a child in Paris dresses differently to a child in the UK he responds:"the style is not a matter of place but a matter of child"...

...too cute and too cool...from the streets of Cape Town...

...my heart just melts every time i look at this picture, her expression is priceless...i noticed her this morning because i bought the exact same style of elastic cuffs denim back from London but i don't think i carry them as well as she does...
...this little girl also caught my eye as i love the charcoal leggings with the grey melange tee....a proof that even in kid's fashion less is more...

...damn those swedes rock!!!!....

...Came across these superb pictures taken from swedish mag called MAMA...just had to put them on...love mini david bowie and mini janis joplin...for full story which includes mini versions of Bob Dylan,Iggy Pop and Madonna go onto the link for MAMA magazine....

...if Noah had a little sister this is what she would be wearing...

...I have to credit Justin for this link to one of his favorite website"cool hunter",he knew when he saw this shoot i was gonna fall in love with the clothes. I know some people have a problem with dressing their kids in black but look how great they both look,i don't think it is too dark. This little girl is so cute and cool at the same time...i mean i would wear these clothes.I have a real problem with the pastel palette we often get here in kids clothes and i get very excited to see what can be achieved in kids fashion...cool hunter is a great site to surf...their kids design and architecture section is also amazing...have a look....

..get inspired from amazing international designers...yes for kids....taken from my favorite kids mag MILK...

...This is Chloe collection for kids...i love this shoot and the lighting, the softness and mood it has created...but mostly i love the colour palette:the earthy tones.Evidently the cut of the clothes are amazing and the attention to details is so great to see in kids clothes...people have a tendency to dress their little girls in very "girlie" colours here in South Africa and i get it, girls love pink, but look how beautiful this collection is... it is always worth checking out what those great international designers do and get inspired by it...

...this kid collection is called tokyokids...the name says it all...the cool graphics of those hoodies are great for boys...Noah lives in his hoodies in winter,i never have enough of them...would love to get my hands of one those!!!

...I also love this collection and it is after all Stella McCartney for kids...very simple but effective,i know this collection might not be available here in South Africa but u can definitely achieve this look with some cool local brands...
