... I am so happy to do a post about a local artist, Colwyn Thomas is originally from Durban... I love the japanese style of his illustrations, how surprising... Rather than trying to explain what Colwyn's work is about, i think it is better to let the man speak for himself: "I like to think of my work as a blend of classic and new art forms. I’m particularly influenced by Schiele and Hasui in the classical department, and by comics, graphic novels, Disney and the work of certain Japanese animators in the modern era. I try to balance my work between commissions and exhibitions.” And apart from being a talented artist Colwyn is also involved in an amazing documentary about the plight of Leopards in South Africa called " to skin a cat", you should really check it out.
